PUDUCHERRY, 25/01/2018: A rider on the move at the Pondicherry Equestrian Challenge 2018, organised by Red Earth Riding School at Auroville near Puducherry on Thursday. The 18th show, hosted by Red Earth Riding School (RERS), Auroville, kicked off at 7 a.m. with a combination of dressage and show jumping events. Switching between the dressage arena and the jumping ground, the riders will demonstrate their precision and finesse by executing complicated dressage moves — accurately dimensioned circles, leg yielding or counter canter or jumping complex courses, with heights ranging from introductory 60 cm courses all the way up to 130 and 140 cm courses for advanced horses and riders. The two-part REL qualifier rounds will take place on January 26, with 110 and 120 cm courses. EFI representatives Kishore Futnaniand Venkatachalam Muthiah, an equestrian veteran and active supporter of the sport, will be overseeing the jumping events.
