A refugee’s story

I looked online and immediately found the title of Jean Paul’s book (Jean Paul is not his real name). This is an obligation to which I am deeply committed – my own parents were both refugees from Nazism at the age of 16. When his father died, neither Jean Paul nor any of his brothers and sisters were able to attend the funeral. Injured physically and mentally by his own experiences, Jean Paul was nevertheless more concerned with the sufferings of others. Unable to earn any money for himself, Jean Paul was dependent on his friends, who proved unstinting in their support.
