We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq. Annisul Huq was, by common consensus and all measures, one of the finest mayors the city of Dhaka or any city in Bangladesh had ever seen. He was also instrumental in clearing up the Tejgaon bus stand, an immeasurable service to tens of thousands of daily Dhaka city commuters. Dhaka has seen immense change for the better over the past two and a half years, and Mayor Annisul Haq was instrumental in that process. Before he became mayor of DNCC, he was a highly successful and widely respected industrialist and industry leader, and a celebrated television personality.
