A man tried to destroy a 9/11 memorial wreath in Arlington, police say


A man has been charged with attempting to destroy a memorial wreath set up to observe the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Arlington police said. Charles Harris, 51, of no fixed address, was charged with being drunk in public and injuring a memorial. The incident happened Sunday shortly after a ceremony the county held to recognize 9/11. Around 11:16 a.m., officers responded after a man was seen trying to “destroy the 9/11 Memorial Wreath.”Police said Harris was taking flowers from the wreath. He is being held on a $1,000 bond.
