(File photo)A 55-year-old man has died while in custody at the Hāwera Police Station. The Hāwera volunteer branch of Fire and Emergency New Zealand were called to assist ambulance at the police station on Princess St at 2.30am on Saturday. In a media response, a police spokesperson said a 55-year-old man, who had been arrested on Friday night, died while in custody. During a routine check the 55-year-old man was found unresponsive, and police staff performed CPR until ambulance staff arrived.
