It’s time to introduce a dreaded word to the team game of hockey: selfish. It’s a necessary ingredient on a good team, and it’s a missing element in several stops around the NHL. For these teams and likely a few more, it’s time to determine between collective and singular. But there has to be excellent play by individuals in order to win games. There’s a balance between collective and singular and both are necessary in a team game.
