OTTAWA — Emergency crews were working to clear the scene early Thursday morning after a dumpster fire erupted on Parliament Hill. Ottawa Fire Services said on Twitter it had responded to a “very small incident” just west of Centre Block on the parliamentary grounds. The fire broke out in a dumpster on a construction site where crews are working to renovate Centre Block, a massive project that is scheduled to take a decade to complete.
