A history lesson from a Jewish perspective

A commonly accepted definition of an indigenous people is that they have a common genealogy, land, language, culture and spirituality. Jews are, therefore, the indigenous people of the Holy Land. The festivals we celebrate, Passover, Tabernacles and Pentecost, are all based on the seasons and agriculture of our land, the Holy Land. Our prayers for the past continuous 2,000 years are replete with references to Jerusalem and the Holy Land, and our fervent wish to reverse 2,000 years of exile. As Golda Meir said, when the Arabs put down their guns, there will be no more fighting; when the Jews put down their guns, there will be no more Israel.
