A family outing turned to tragedy but it could have been far worse if it weren't for the heroic actions of four surfers. A family friend reassured me: "There are a few things in life you never get over, you just gotta learn to sit with them." I had flown in with the paramedics by helicopter and a 2-year-old child was fighting for her life. All I can see are the whites of her eyes and the yellow of her life jacket. I see Evie sitting on her longboard, James' board resting next to hers.
