The Frank Kitts playground slide in Wellington is being removed after some injuries to young childrenOPINION: So begins my eulogy for our recently "departed" and much-loved playground fixture, the Frank Kitts slide. After all, it is probably a bit suspect for adults to play on a playground without children in tow (in daytime and without alcohol involved at least). The new slide may indeed support risky play for four and 5-year-olds, but will it still be exhilarating for older rangatahi? I run play programmes for children around Auckland and one of the rules is "Respect yourself". Anyhow, you will be missed, Frank Kitts Slide!
