A driving force for changeSUPPLIED Sybil Lupp, middle, was one of New Zealand's first ever female mechanics. She was a competitive race car driver for most of her 30s and entered and won her first race in 1947. The Suffrage movement, signed September 19, 1893, changed lives, not only for the women who signed the landmark petition calling for change, but for those who followed in their footsteps. War was declared and both Sybil and Jack Lupp volunteered for the Royal New Zealand Airforce and were stationed at Woodbourne and Delta. Her son eventually took over the business, but until her death, you would always find Lupp cruising in a Jaguar motorcar.
