The Italian government has told a lesbian couple that their son would not be registered in the nation’s census data because of the peculiarity of his birth. The baby, christened Niccolò Pietro, was born to lesbian couple Chiara Foglietta and Micaela, who both reside in Turin, Italy. According to her Facebook post, Chiara Foglietta, a Turin councillor, had undergone artificial insemination in Denmark, through which she conceived their son, who was delivered last Friday. A concerned Chiara Foglietta wrote, “Niccolò Pietro came to the world, to me and Micaela. “It is for the children of single women and those with partners who have chosen medically assisted procreation with external donor and want to tell the truth,” Chiara argued.
