This was what April Canonigo discovered when she “jumped ship” from Uni-Ship Inc. to Sorok Uni Foundation. A decade later, Jang established Sorok Uni Village to house-cured hansenites, or leper survivors, and their families. “I started with Sorok Uni as a volunteer at the age of 21 when I joined the Uni Group of Companies. This allowed us to help more than a thousand beneficiaries in NCR, Region IV-A, Region IV-B, and Region IX,” she disclosed. When asked as to the person behind the steady helping hand of Sorok Uni, Canonigo reflected that she continues to learn about herself along the way of helping others.
