Jonny TurnerWe are barely into 2018 and the start of the year has been a disastrous one for the South Island thoroughbred racing fraternity. I hope they do not involve the crucifying of the volunteer committees of country racing clubs. For instance, what training, guidelines about irrigation and support does New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing offer race clubs and their track managers? I think the disastrous start to the season has not revealed flaws in the skills of local track managers nearly as much as it has shown the brittle nature of the industry. What about investing in some support for these volunteer clubs?
