I think even the exercise of responding to the callout was its own journey. I can’t tell you how many people thanked us for exploring what the pandemic has conjured. Probably midway through reading the entries, I remember thinking, in some ways, this really feels like a public service. Realizing that helped me to think about how this story might help readers through that process. I hope we will be able to remember the shared humanity that this year has revealed, and help one another on that journey.
