Mount Vernon High, in northeast Texas, announced in its May 24 news release that it has hired Briles. The filing also laid out the athletic department's response to allegations of gang rape by football players, including when a student-athlete told her coach that five football players had raped her at an off-campus party. I don't know what went through the minds at everyone in Mount Vernon who signed off on Briles' hiring.
