Kristian O'Donovan will take on the Tampa Bay Marathon Swim on Friday KERRY'S EYEA Kerry man will swap St Patrick’s Day pints for shark-infested waters when he attempts to become the first Irish person to complete a marathon swim off the west coast of Florida. Armed with only a green shamrock cap and his swimming togs, Kristian O’Donovan, 37, from Glenbeigh, will aim to swim 24 miles through strong currents and jetskiing tourists in the Tampa Bay Marathon Swim this Friday. The race is one of the world’s longest marathon swims and is held annually on April 22 in celebration of Earth Day. Mr O’Donovan has received permission from the race’s director to take on the event a month early, however, to coincide with St Patrick’s Day.
