PhotoSerene tearooms have been proliferating in New York. Floating Mountain is the latest, specializing in Chinese teas. Roza Gazarian, a graphic designer, brews teas in the cozy Upper West Side spot and sell packages to take home ($4 to $13 for 5 grams). Along with her business partner, Elina Medvedeva, she imports about 60 teas, which they list by type (white, red, green, fermented and more), by the Chinese name and by the English translations — Iron Goddess of Mercy, for example. They also sell tea wares and offer tea ceremonies and music from time to time: Floating Mountain, 239 West 72nd Street (Broadway), Second Floor, 646-852-6555, floating-mountain.com.
