Photo: jason szenes/European Pressphoto AgencyNEW YORK—Madison Square Garden was quiet on Sunday afternoon. The New York Knicks used the occasion of their only home game against the Golden State Warriors—the most anticipated matchup of their mediocre season, on national television no less—to unveil an intriguing experiment involving the arena experience: silence. There was one word that was used multiple times: “weird.”“It felt like church,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. As it turned out, though, Knicks fans were able to engage with the game even without being implored by a scoreboard. They cheered Kristaps Porzingis when he made a 3-pointer and heckled Stephen Curry when he missed two free throws.
