If you’re among the hundreds of thousands of Koreans who demonstrated in public to call for the ouster of former president Park Geun-hye, the constitutional court’s decision Friday might spark jubilation. The court upheld the legislature’s December move to impeach Park, a conservative who was elected in 2012 on high hopes of avoiding scandals like her predecessors. Angry South Koreans would hope now that their turbulent democracy can move on again. By May 9 the country is supposed hold a presidential race. Things keep changing, but according to an amalgamation of media reports voters are likely to pick one of the following presidential candidates -- all reform-minded liberals or anti-beltway people.
