A Massive Compound With Land in New York and Connecticut Asks $49.5 Million

The Hillandale estate, a roughly 260-acre compound straddling the border of New York and Connecticut, has returned to market for $49.5 million, roughly half of its 2007 listing price. The property was owned by Gilbert Haroche, co-founder of Liberty Travel, a major travel booking agency. Mr. Haroche first listed the estate in 2007 for $95 million, but it did not sell. He died in 2015 at age 87 and the property was listed later that year asking $75 million; it was later removed from the market.
