A Good Meal Is Hard to Find — at Least on New York’s Upper West Side


PhotoI’ve been wondering when the Upper West Side was going to complain about me. (I don’t count Tavern on the Green, even though the driveway is on the Upper West Side.) This is one way to think about the divide between neighborhood restaurants and destination restaurants. Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield, who opened White Gold, are among the few restaurateurs who succeeded downtown before coming to the Upper West Side. For the sake of my friends on the Upper West Side, I hope so.
