Its latest contender is the upcoming Airbus A350-900ULR, a plane you can literally spend a whole day on. But with just 100 business-class seats on board the four-engine A340-500, and much of the payload used for fuel, Singapore Airlines threw in the towel in 2013 on the unprofitable service. Singapore Air, which was also the initial launch customer for the slow-selling superjumbo A380, has ordered a total of 67 A350-900s, including seven Ultra-Long-Range models.
