A Dalit woman faces layers of victimization: Pradnya Daya Pawar


Pradnya Daya Pawar, a poet, Dalit activist and daughter of Daya Pawar who wrote ‘Baluta’, the first autobiography by a Dalit, in 1978. And there were Dalit writers, early feminists, who wrote about the atrocities against Dalits, particularly Dalit women. This holds true for Dalit women or Muslim women or even Brahmin women. In fact, a Dalit woman experiences multiple layers of victimization and discrimination. I have been a professor for 28 years and I have experienced these multiple layers of discrimination as a Dalit person, as a woman and as a Dalit woman!
