The intersection of Velachery Main Road and Mambakkam Main Road, Medavakkam, resembles a classroom without a teacher. There is no police personnel to watch over pedestrians and motorists and this emboldens them to do their own thing. Having a pedestrian crossing would have helped matters to some extent. For their part, motorists don’t slow down on seeing a pedestrian crossing the intersection. They zig-zag around crossing pedestrians.
