MANILA, Philippines — An additional 93 COVID-19 patients have died due to complications of the disease, bringing the death toll to 37,494, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday. This means that, on average, deaths, excluding the missing figures due to the backlog, were at 150 per day. Despite the missing figures, Monday’s death toll was still higher compared to the average deaths recorded in the last few months. August had an average daily death toll of 114, July had 97, and June had 106. The current total toll, however, only accounts for only 1.50% of the total 2,509,177 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, according to the DOH.
