MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Some 23 families composed of 90 individuals along riverbanks were evacuated to safer grounds in nearby Angeles City on Wednesday. Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. personally inspected the condition of the evacuees and assigned medical doctors to check on the evacuees. Lazatin has instructed Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Rudy Simeon to monitor and check the conditions of the evacuees and the upland residents of the city. Tropical Cyclone Carina developed into a super typhoon on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
