The first reality television show I fell in love with was Survivor. While tactics and strategies were only beginning to emerge in these early days of reality show competitions, a single contestant seemed to arrive ready-made for the phenomenon. Today, however, reality television has evolved into something less innocent, something more real, but also something more uncomfortable and often unwatchable. Constance Wu of Crazy Rich Asians and Fresh Off The Boatonce summed up reality television perfectly. But more and more, reality television has strayed from investigating these complications to not just focus on the salacious, but to exploit its participants to the point of real-life consequences.
