9 candidates vie for Carpio’s vacated posthome/News/Top Stories/9 candidates vie for Carpio’s vacated postThe Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has shortlisted the only Muslim magistrate in the Court of Appeals (CA) for the post to be vacated by Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on October 26. During the voting conducted by the JBC en banc, CA Justice Japar Dimaampao of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, led the group of nominees for possible appointment as the next Supreme Court justice. Dimaampao also topped the Supreme Court voting with 11 votes, which was carried into the JBC voting by Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin. Also making the shortlist was Supreme Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez. The high court had already shortlisted those seeking the other pending vacancy arising from the approaching retirement of Supreme Court Justice Francis Jardeleza.
