The Thane district disaster management cell has declared 84 villages in the district that are prone to flooding this monsoon. The villages are located near the Bhatsa lake and the Ulhas river in the Kalyan, Murbad and Shahpur talukas. All these villages are around the Bhatsa dam and Ulhas river in the district, which might be susceptible to flooding this year. The list was compiled based on the flood situation after a heavy monsoon spell last year. “In case of heavy monsoon, the villages are cut off and so we cannot reach out to the authorities or people there, nor can they contact us.
