The storm, which hit just after 9:30pm and lasted for about half an hour, uprooted trees, destroyed houses and caused significant damage to crops. Fire service officials are removing uprooted trees blocking streets and highways in the affected areas. Meanwhile, in Netrokona, a man was killed as a nor’wester lashed four upazilas early on Friday. Some 2,000 houses were damaged in sadar upazila while 7, 00 in Purbodgala upazila during the nor’wester, the district’s deputy commissioner Mainul Islam said. Many trees and 20 electric poles were also uprooted in the 10-minute storm that also left 15 cows killed.
