76ers’ Jahlil Okafor reportedly close to being traded to Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor has seen his scoring average and minutes drop this season. (Morry Gash/Associated Press)The Pelicans are in “in serious trade talks” with the 76ers to acquire center Jahlil Okafor, as first reported Monday by USA Today’s Sam Amick. The deal is not complete, and the 19-32 Pelicans are reportedly in talks with several teams, dangling a future first-round pick. Whereas Okafor averaged 17.5 points in 30 minutes per game as a rookie, he was averaging 11.4 points in 23.1 minutes going into Monday’s game at Detroit. The 18-32 76ers have also been shopping center Nerlens Noel but they may view his skill set, including greater defensive ability, as a better fit than that of Okafor.
