MANILA, Philippines — At least 70 people were reported dead while some remain missing after tropical storm Vinta sliced across Mindanao and continued its rampage in the island of Palawan, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Saturday. According to NDRRMC’s updated figures as of 4:02 p.m., a total of 75 people were reported killed as "Vinta" smashes the country while 58 were unaccounted for. “These numbers are still for verification, validation and confirmation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government,” the NDRRMC said. Vinta – the 22nd cyclone to enter the country this year – made landfall over Cateel, Davao Oriental on Friday, unleashing floods and landslides across central Mindanao.
