A paralysis of scarcity and apathy gripping the Capital's public health system refuses to let go even as the nation turns 70 on Tuesday. A senior doctor at the LHMC gynaecology ward told Mail Today on the condition of anonymity: "We are overloaded with patients. Ashraf, 25, had been at Safdarjung Hospital with his pregnant wife for two days but she was yet to get admission. "We are getting about 70% referral cases from outside Delhi," Dr Anup Mohta, director of Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, told Mail Today. In the past 70 years, health services in Delhi have improved but we need to focus more on providing quality medical care.
