70 people lose RM300k to dubious Kota Baru investment scheme

KOTA BARU: Nearly 70 people suffered losses totaling more than RM300,000 after they were allegedly cheated by a fake investment scheme company operating here. The victims claimed that they were cheated by a company which had been conducting an investment scheme since last year. Association chairman Datuk Mohd Fareed Abdul Ghani said he believed the number of people cheated by the company numbered more than 100. "They were told by syndicate members that they will get 10 per cent from the profits but were instead cheated," he told a press conference after meeting with the victims today. He said some of the victims also claimed that they were threatened by the syndicate members when they demanded their money back.
