70,000 visas granted to young working touristsALDEN WILLIAMS/STUFF Thousands of young tourists from 43 selected countries, visited New Zealand to travel and work last year. Most of them, more than 70,000, came on a working holiday visa – a bilateral visa scheme that New Zealand has with 45 countries. Working holiday visas aim to attract young travellers who want to tour New Zealand and pick up a job on the side. The number of visas granted to temporary workers grew 16 per cent between 2016 and 2017. Most of that growth came from study to work visas, essential skills visas and family work visas.
