Charghat police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Alam said the situation had been brought under control. The skirmish reportedly began after BNP activists who were putting up posters for the upcoming municipal elections were interrupted and chased away by their Awami League counterparts. At around 11am, the BNP activists returned with weapons in hand and clashed with Awami League at the Charghat Sadar area. The BNP activists hurled several explosive cocktails during the brawl, the OC said.
