Those fired were also behind the garbage menace and increased number of city hawkers. In an expose by investigative journalist John Allan Namu, it was revealed that these county council officers made millions of shillings a month from taking bribes every day from hawkers. According to the Star, those fired were said to have extorted business men and women before offering them services.
