7-9 storms and tropical depressions to hit East Sea this yearVietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnam National Meteorological Center has said that from now until the end of the year, seven to nine storms and tropical depressions will affect the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea). The center’s deputy director Nguyen Thanh Hai said this year typhoons and tropical depressions appear later and with fewer number than the average of previous years (12-13/year). Of these, four to five hurricanes and tropical depressions will directly affect Vietnam in August-November. The flood peak on the Tien River and Hau River is likely to appear in early October and the flood peak may be higher than that in 2015. The flood peak is forecast to be similar to that in 2015.
