69 Mississauga residences remain evacuated after massive blast

Residents of 69 residences in Mississauga still can’t go home almost a week after a massive explosion leveled a neighbour’s house. Some of those residents will be allowed 15-minute, supervised visits, Mississauga Fire Chief Tim Beckett said. Some 700 residences were evacuated immediately after an explosion destroyed a house at 4201 Hickory Dr., near Dixie Rd. There’s no date set for when people will be allowed back into the houses and apartments that can be repaired, Mississauga Fire Chief Tom Beckett said on Monday. Building department officials, engineers and insurance workers are now assessing damage to other buildings, Beckett said.
