68 people who were at risk in Maltese SAR returned to Libya – NGO

A group of 68 asylum seekers, who were adrift in the Maltese search and rescue region, have been returned to Libya, Alarm Phone said in its latest update. On Saturday, the NGO raised the alarm over a group among whom were several women and three children, who had embarked on a perilous journey from Libya in search of a better future. However, according to the latest update, relatives of those on board told the humanitarian NGO that the boat was intercepted by the Libyan Coastguard, and they were returned to the war torn country. “All people are imprisoned now back in #Libya. #CrimesOfMalta,” Alarm Phone said on Twitter.
