RANGPUR, Aug 07, 2023 (BSS)-Some 678 landless and homeless families will get new houses as gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina under the fourth phase (second installment) of Asrayan-2 project in Rangpur on Wednesday next. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will launch the house handover ceremony with land ownership documents and keys to the selected families through a video conference from Ganabhaban on the day,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rangpur Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan said. On March 22 this year, the Prime Minister distributed 758 houses to the landless and homeless families in the first installment of the fourth phase of Asrayan-2 project in the district. Earlier, 1,273 new houses, 991 new houses and 1,097 new houses were built under the first, second and third phases of Asrayan-2 project, which were distributed among the homeless and landless families of all eight upazilas in Rangpur district. The government started distributing the brick-built tin-shed semi-pucca houses among the homeless families marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Mujib Year to ensure shelters of all citizens.
