Acting on a tip-off about smuggling of US currency from India through the Benapole border, troops led by BGB Company Sadar Commander Subedar Abdul Wahab, conducted a drive at the aforementioned area and detained one Shojib with US$65,400, which is equivalent to Tk56 lakh. Jessore 49 BGB Commanding Officer Lt Col Md Selim Reza confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. He said the hundi trader Shojib Hossain was interrogated following his detention and transferred to Benapole Port police station soon after.
