More than 10 percent of Hong Kong's population are smokers and they puff on more than a dozen cigarattes a day, a survey has found. There are about 637,900 who smoke every day, representing 10.2 percent of the local population aged 15 years and above, compared with 10 percent 2017, a survey by the Department of Health shows. On average, the smokers lighted up 12.7 cigarettes daily, which was similar to that in 2017. The latest Thematic Household Survey Report, was done between April and July 2019 and published by the Census and Statistics Department today. It contains the findings of the survey on the pattern of smoking among Hong Kong residents.
