COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities claim that the number of people infected with the Delta COVID variant increased to 61, based on samples obtained thus far. At the same time, Health Promotion Bureau Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa on Friday (23) said that the infectivity of the COVID Delta Variant is very high adding that Sri Lanka already has the identification kits for Delta variant detection in the country. He urged the people to continue to strictly follow the health guidelines in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, especially the Delta COVID variant.
