60 arrested so far in Ethiopia's largest anti-corruption sweep - Xinhua

(Xinhua/Michael Tewelde)ADDIS ABABA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia's largest ever anti-corruption sweep has led to arrest of another five senior officials of Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE), state media has reported. The arrest of the five suspects brings the number of brokers, business people and government officials arrested over anti-corruption allegations to 60. Among the suspects arrested are Chief Engineer Alemu Ambaye, Deputy CEO of Shipping sector at ESLSE and Samuel Melaku, Finance Head of ESLSE, according to a report by state media Radio Fana. The anti-corruption sweep has so far led to the arrest of a Brigadier General, a Deputy Minister of Ethiopia Finance and Economic Cooperation and former head of Ethiopian Roads Authority.
