According to Awami League party sources, the female leaders who are reliable and trusted will be the ones to receive its nomination for the reserved parliamentary seat for women. Incumbent MP of the reserved seat, Swechhashebok League leader Advocate Ummey Razia Kajol – who was injured in the August 21 grenade attack – is making a great deal of effort to become a lawmaker again. Also lobbying to receive the nomination for the reserved seat are: Sheikh Mili, president of Dhaka’s Dhanmondi unit Mohila Awami League; Gopalganj district Mohila Awami League President Nasima Akhter Rubel; National University Teachers’ Association's General Secretary Arifa Rahman Ruma; Awami League international affairs sub-committee member Kantara Khan (also daughter of Gopalganj 1 constituency lawmaker and central Awami League presidium member Lieutenant Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan); and member of Gopalganj Upazila Parishad’s selected reserved seat and Shammilito Sangeet Shilpi Shongothon General Secretary Tania Haque Shobha.
