Brampton’s tough stance on illegal gatherings and other emergency-measures violations has led to 59 summonses being issued for people now liable for penalties of up to $100,000 for COVID-19 breaches. Fines for summons can range up to $100,000 and are at the discretion of the Justice of the Peace. Brown said the majority of the city’s 285 residential breaches were neighbourhood social gatherings and not the large bashes seen earlier in the summer.
