Police have urged caution after dozens of burglaries in Hertsmere during Christmas and New Year over the last five years. Since 2016 in the borough there have been 52 break-ins - peaking at 23 in 2016 - with reports reducing nearly year-on-year. There was just one burglary recorded between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve in Hertsmere in 2020 - in Church Lane in Aldenham. In Borehamwood, this includes Aycliffe Road, Gateshead Road, Croxdale Road, and Bullhead Road. She said: "The number of burglaries across the county has been lower this year, compared to the same period last year.
