A 'Blob' took off into orbit on Tuesday to be the subject of an experiment by school children organised by French astronaut Thomas Pesquet. This initiative is led by the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) in partnership with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). Several French school students will reproduce Pesquet's experiment with this curious living species on Earth this autumn. On Earth, thousands of Blob specimens will be distributed to 4,500 primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in France. These Blob specimens will all be cut from the same strain (LU352) as those blasted into space.
